The Giant Wall of Valverde
Our neighbors tell us that the giant stones attract quite a few visitors. They wonder whether we are going to construct a house with them? (We think a pyramid is more likely with this size of stones…) Whether we have gone crazy? (Sure!)
Once the first 15 stones have been delivered, there is no room on our plot for more. So the men start building the Giant Wall. They are extremely precise in digging, positioning, calibrating, and installing. Just the two of them, one guy in the machine, one guy like a traffic controller on the ground, giving instructions to the smallest bit. It is extremely clever how they are attuned to each other and their machine!
We can follow this process for just a couple of days, and twelve stones are then forming half of the wall. Now they can bring in the stones for the other half. But then… it starts to rain, an awful lot of rain pours down endlessly, fiercely and during two days. A code red is alerting the people in this region. In Lisbon streets alter into small rivers. Patiently we have to wait for all this water to subside so we can restart work. Patience is something we have to reorder, every week.
