Where does a dream begin?

We have been around for a while in this world, we’ve done some traveling, had some adventures, we built some life experience. Some say you have to calm down once the era of retirement appears on your horizon. Well, to us it was a sign to start a new adventurous part in our life!

Our thoughts were how to get out of this busy city with growing numbers of tourists. Where is that hill with greener grass. Where is our view, a village, working from home, a little off the grid, a kitchen garden, space to move around, fresh air and nice weather. But also: how to share all that with our family and friends in a relaxed way?

After a long search in France (too expensive and with too many government rules) and the Algarve (too far out into the very dry and hot inland to be affordable) we went north of Lisbon to continue our search.

We had a list of about 12 potential properties, all well thought through and investigated via Google Earth. But the second plot we visited was immediately perfect, a love at first sight! It ticks all our boxes. The grass may be always greener on the other side of the hill, we landed on the other side! (And luckily we can decide very fast…)

After a day of negotiations we bought our land in Vilar! A new phase in our lives has begun. We do not only dream, we actually carry out our dreams!
