Breaking and healing

Breaking and healing

Now there’s this bloke with a spray can, and he makes all kinds of indications on our walls, in blue and red. Next thing, another guy starts milling grooves and holes at these indicated spots. Suddenly there is a lot of rubble on the floors, they are tearing our beautiful newly built walls into pieces! WTF?!?

Drawings

No. They are not going to read and study all these perfectly detailed work drawings, proudly presented by the Chief of Work. Neatly stuck to the wall. The drawings indicating where all plumbing and electric wiring has to be installed. For bathrooms and the drainage to the exterior. The drawings that lay out the whole plan for lights. In zones. Where the sockets must be and how many, where the ceiling lightning guides you, inside and out. Where the light switches are positioned, the control units, a central panel, some domotics. The drawings that the Chief and his wife have worked through, endlessly, again and again, to make absolutely sure that every wish or comfort is covered. So that Chiefs wife later on never has a reason to complain that she is unable to plug in another household appliance (yet to be invented, I guess…. ;-)) Or that possible thugs, villains, thieves are scared and alarmed in time. So the wife can switch of the light without leaving her bed. It is all there, detailed until the last millimeter. No, they are not going to read them and follow the instructions. Want not or can not?

Chief is considered to be on the spot now all day. So many details are going to be worked on at the same time. He needs to answer many questions, indicate how and where, and explain why he wants it the way he wants it. He instructs where to drill, to mill, to install and wire. Correctly to the last millimeter, according to his own artwork. And to see that at least he has made a mighty good plan. With the wife.

Tie the networks together

Now we are fully concentrating on the infrastructure inside and outside. Milling the slots for the Geberit concealed systems and the eventual drain of our ‘shits’ to the septic tank. Supply lines for hot and cold water. Sewage drains. A special ‘spider’ connection with six legs in each bathroom. That enable you to check via a lid where an eventual clogging is creating a problem (= handy!). Everything has to be installed exactly on it’s spot and next securely fixed with cement on the floors.

Window and door frames

In the meantime the builders are working on a different task, a very precise and intense work. Preparation of the window and door openings so that the frames can be measured, produced en later installed to precision. The openings get a very smooth and exact finish on each side and are exactly straight according to the Chief’s wishes.

Walking

By the end of the working day or in the weekend we are able to observe our palace from a distance. We are curious whether we are not too visible, or too prominent in the surrounding nature. We like our privacy and we do not need to make some statement for other people. We like our privacy. So far so good, I guess, can you spot the building?
