Colored sky (Céu de Cor)
Something else, once in a while… Although I am really running behind with these blogs, I also need to write about this, just because it’s so special. Simmer is all there, it is warm (luckily an acceptable heat on this side of the mountain…) and there is a lot fruit growing in the thousands of pear trees and vineyards that surround us. Everyone in the village is very busy in their kitchen gardens beside their homes. And there are a lot of kitchen gardens. Everywhere. Soon there is a constant flow of lovely veggy and fruity gifts coming our way. Lettuce, zucchinis, green cabbage, plums in all sorts and even eggs. From our neighbors and our contractor, other people in the village, it is almost too much and soooo yummy! We need to make sure that our kitchen garden will be filled with a totally different crop, as to compensate all these great gifts.
107 years old
Meanwhile in Bombarral. Every year small town festivities, this time they celebrate the 107th birthday of the township. To emphasize the positive attractions of the town in these dark corona times, they color the sky of the ‘Rua do Comércio‘. Wow! More than 2.000 metal rings have been decorated over the last months, by school children, elderly people, scouts, volunteers and other creative minds. Some time ago we saw piles of these rings in an abandoned store and wondered what they would be used for… Now we know, and so very beautiful they have become. So many hours of work, then tying all of them together and hanging them up above the street. What a great work of art! And of course the pear and the grapes are not to be missed, a special place for the heroes of this area!
