Beach in wintertime
The wild Atlantic Ocean does hardly offer refreshment in the summer. Cold and high waves roll over the beach and drag back everything they encounter on their way. Only when you are strapped in a wet suit and are an experienced surfer, you could consider to choose a battle. For the rest of us it is a matter of dipping our toes and be very careful. And it is an endless mindfulness exercise, to concentrate on the sound of the waves that swallow everything else in your hearing.
But it can be suddenly very nice and warm on the beach in winter time! Too warm even for my winter coat, when hiking to the cliff and back. A nice walk after we devoured our fish for lunch at Grão de Areia, a small restaurant on this beach.
Grão de Areia means: sand grain!
