Moving – part 2
After a lot of asking around, we managed to find another house, in the same village. We have seen a few properties, but most of them were even older and more dingy than our actual house. Or even more expensive. Or we were supposed to share the wardrobe on the landing with the home owner.
This house is literally in the center of the village opposite of church and tavern. ‘Detox and retox, that is so very convenient!’ said a friend… This house is up for sale for quite some time now. But the owners agree that we rent it in the meantime. With these people we come to official agreement and contract. Now we can also subscribe to the energy, water and internet suppliers, in our own name. This immediately feels a lot better.
The house itself once consisted of two, and was completely refurbished some 10 years ago. We have a cosy living room, a large kitchen and a bathroom on the first floor. On the second there are two large bedrooms and a second large bathroom. Below the first floor there are a large garage and a storing space for our stuff , laundry and washing machine. Unfortunatley there is no garden or balcony. But we are so relieved that we simply take this for granted.
We pack all our belongings once more (we kept all the big boxes) and transport them bit by bit in our car to the new place. It is only a couple of hundred meters. For the heavy things we hire a few handymen with a small truck. They only accept half the money I want to give to them, saying ‘ Thank you ma’am but this is just enough for us’.
Remounting the beds once more. We are getting used to it. What a pleasure to fill the clean and normal kitchen kabinets with our things. We try to make this place into our snug, we really can continue from now on…
